FOUNDER'S STORY
A FAMILY BUSINESS
Harry Hall and his family have been growing berries from their picturesque farms in Surrey and Berkshire for over 50 years.
Proud growers of the Fabulous Four; Strawberries, Raspberries, Blackberries and Blueberries, the taste of their British grown berries is unrivalled. With the UK appetite for berries now at the highest it has ever been; Harry realised people could not easily purchase premium British Berries. He wanted to change this for the masses and Berrymakers was born!
CREATING A SUSTAINABLE LEGACY
At Berrymakers farms approximately 65% of the energy utilised is derived from renewable sources, primarily generated onsite from our roof and ground-mounted solar panels, heat-pumps, as well as a biomass boiler.
The water-source heat pumps create 4 times as much energy as electric which is used to the heat the polytunnels. This enables us to extend our growing season up to three weeks earlier and three to five weeks later, therefore enhancing our overall productivity while also reducing environmental impact.
At Berrymakers we are committed to enhancing biodiversity. On one of our farms we have planted over 3300 trees, along with the establishment of more than a kilometre of hedgerows and 11,000 square meters of meadows. To further support local wildlife, we've installed bat boxes, bird nesting boxes, and bug hotels! We also maintain hundreds of bee hives within our polytunnels to promote natural pollination.
